Some Rights Reserved

Birds-Eye.Net provides an in-depth look at how Netflix and Roku work together and what to expect from broadband phone companies two in the future.

Every business needs bandwidth solutions of some sort. For many businesses that require large wifi internet of bandwidth finding just the right solution....from streamyx hotspots cost and application standpoint....can be streamyx update confusing process. It doesn't have to be if you understand what to base your decision on.

Like anything in information technology, it really depends on how you will utilize this infrastructure. It certainly doesn't make sense to provision high capacity transport links if you will use them for a small fraction of the day or the traffic doesn't warrant it.

I think one of the hardest things about this arena is that many times the people requesting the bandwidth are confused about what bandwidth really is. There's a misnomer that bandwidth automatically equals speed. "Well my application is slow, I need more bandwidth". Many times if a study is done on exactly what your needs are, it turns out to be a very different story from the initial conversation.

With a plethora of technologies out there for WAN and Metro services, wired or wireless customers can choose to subscribe to always on, dedicated access methods or go for a most cost effective model with somewhat "shared" topologies like Multi-Protocol Label Switching. The idea here is that you have options and each solution can satisfy any number of requirements. There's never been a better time in the industry for choices.

The best option is the cheapest one that works. Dark Fiber and Metro Ethernet, if an option, should usually be looked at first to establish a price for negotiating. I think you should focus on negotiating techniques that work to bring these bandwidths within affordable reach.

No matter how much bandwidth you are using, you will get a better deal for it at a malaysia asia Network Access Point (NAP) where you have more bidders for your business, and from which you can easily shift carriers, set up failovers and redundancy, etc.. Every high end user needs their own boxes to shape traffic at the NAP, and they need them in two different racks connected to two different carriers. Accept the hit of that and you'll quickly see that the ten to thirty thousand dollars a typical urban company requires to get two boxes into a NAP (admittedly on a single dark fiber route) pays for itself in bandwidth charges in pretty much a single year. Even just to PLAN to do it and show your spreadsheet to your carrier, a project that might cost five grand to do right, will result in more than that much per year off your bill.

Think of it like any other high end purchase. You demonstrate that you're not a pushover, that you have options, that you understand the options and how to increase the number of options, and you bargain based on the bottom line of the cheapest solution you can find. When they tell you it will "cost too much to have your own boxes and dark fiber to the NAP", you snap back the lowest number you can high speed dialup call it "insurance", and rule it out as a cost factor. When they tell you "we can monitor boxes far better than you can", leverage that into quality of service streamyx logo in the contract with real dollar penalties for failures or slowdowns. When they tell you "our facility is state of the art", GO THERE and portable satellite internet up the number of non-bulletproof windows and visible insecure perches that someone can shoot the servers from, grab the corded phone and walk over to the rack, pulling it right out of the wall and looking astonished: "how am I supposed to give someone instructions over the phone? They can't even walk to the rack! You expect them to scribble it down while cradling the phone in their neck and then go over to the box and do what I said?!?!?!?"

Basically, you must point out every deficiency in their facility or service and refuse to acknowledge that your own home-built solution would have any inadequacies, or that the competitors all have the same problems. In a high end negotiation, you must have NO mercy.

By the way, once you've got a contract with your carrier, you must be very nice to them, in total contrast to the way you leveraged like mad in the first negotiation. Don't nickel-and-dime them after you've agreed on terms, don't let your bandwidth payments get late. These people hold your crown jewels. As mean as you are to the salespeople, be that nice to the geeks.

Technologically, you should consider Storage Area Networks (SAN) if you have multiple locations in the same city, and the use of SAN links over IP which is increasingly common. Basically, the entire city becomes a vast RAID hard drive. You should also understand some of the good business reasons to adopt very high bandwidth such as reducing the number of over-the-Internet transactions which slow things down and may compromise security in favour of internal intranet transactions. Also, having as few layers of software as possible between the hard drive and the user is a major plus.

Also consider the price difference between Sonet equipment versus Ethernet. These days layer-3 ethernet switches are more and more capable for usage as a router. While Sonet traditionally is quite expensive vs Ethernet (especialy for the hardware).... dark fiber and ethernet solutions from carriers are getting broad industry support. Although I do favor Sonet for its better debuging capablities, error counters, alarms etc. Ethernet in wide area environments seems to do the jobs as well. Ethernet would save you the need to buy a decent router able to terminate Sonet and give you the choice to go with a decent layer-3 switch. Another option is 10GigE WAN PHY.....it still has all the advantages of Sonet combined with Ethernet, gives you the ability to use cheaper layer-3 switches, looks for the carrier as a normal Sonet service and works over long distances.

To look at the tradeoffs, you'll have to start by finding out what is available at your end user location. Within North America, the alternatives include ATM OC-3/12/48, SONET (and Next Generation SONET) probably more likely OC-12/48/192, and Metro Ethernet at 100 Mbps (a little slower than OC-3), 1 Gbps (about OC-24) and 10 Gbps (OC-192). Things that aren't available need not be considered.

What are the availability requirements? If you are thinking of SONET, find out if it will come to your premises as a star or ring or dual ring. Metro Ethernet might be faster but not necessarily physically diverse. Sometimes, you can be creative and use a short free-space link to get access to a physically diverse medium.

For more background and insights I suggest reading "WAN Survival Guide" and "Building Service Provider Networks" by Howard Berkowitz. Both are excellent resources.

I have worked with many customers to design infrastructure solutions that incorporate high-end DWDM or CWDM get broadband between datacenters. Now, this is a business solution and the common user would never dream of having a connection such as this, available to them. Other customers that I work with will incorporate leased lined anywhere from a T1 to OC3. Those connections are very much sized for purpose with a percentage of growth factored in.

The practice that I go through is to evaluate need. What are you trying to accomplish? Is it transactional based or are you replicating data for DR? Are you simply connecting two or more remote offices for the purpose of a Citrix solution? Each of these questions will result in different answers when all is said and done.

Remeber that redundancy is ALWAYS a factor in business oriented solutions. Especially as it pertains to data replication and DR/HA failover to "hot" datacenters. We are starting to see more and more of this type of configuration. I have a few customers that are fortunate enough to have multi-ring DWDM infrastructures to make their valuable data available in the unfortunate event of a disaster.

As corny as it sounds, I have to say that your ultimate solution depends on the intended usage of that bandwidth. I would also say that there really is no generalized "ideal" bandwidth solution. It all comes down to intent and budget. With today's technology in WAN (TCP/IP/FC/FCIP/IFCP) acceleration (Juniper, Riverbed, Cisco), you can transfer vast amounts of data in a smaller pipe. It really is cool technology but still requires cost justification to implement.

Whatever you decide....do your homework....be prepared....negotiate....then install and enjoy.

Ashley Tisdale Gives Barack Obama a Lapdance

I apologize. I built you up with that headline, and I’m only going to disappoint you. While making a guest appearance test my broadband speed a Spanish talkshow, some freaky unibrow puppets prompt the Tis to give fastest broadband impromptu lapdance to a Barack Obama impersonator. Aside from some PG-13 titty shaking however, there’s very little “lap” in this lapdance.

When Trk Telecom was finally able to deliver ADSL adsl streamyx capability down here to us on the Aegean Seacoast in 2005, it came not a moment too soon -- to stop the bleeding of our Internet phone bill, which had leaped suddenly and alarmingly in mid-summer to $150 a month for simple 56kbps dial-up service.

ADSL service came late to our Western coastal township, even later to us beach-side residents. It had arrived in Turkey in the new millennium and had been fully operational in the big cities streamyx reseller with Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir) since 2002 -- and in most smaller West-country municipalities since 2004. But it didn't reach our minor Izmir-province municipality until August 2005.

In fact, we had installed our first Internet phone line in 1994 (a year after the commercial Internet became operational in Turkey) as a separate analog line -- so that Peri could use our first line for voice... And, back then, our dial-up usage costs had been about $20 a month including a small amount of KDV (Katma Değer Vergisi -- Value Added Tax) -- in the neighborhood of 5%, if I recall correctly.

In 1996, when we upgraded to 56kps digital dial-up service, our Internet phone bill internet service to about $25. And it stayed around that level for quite awhile -- until KDV for telephone service was boosted in 2003 (coincidental with the coming to power of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's religious-right AKP political party) to the maximum KDV tax rate of 18%.

But, when 18% wasn't enough to satisfy the new government's tax man, he invented an additional one called İV (zel İletişim Vergisi -- Special Communications Tax) which socked in at 15% right off the bat -- without much warning in 2004.

So, our once perfectly reasonable monthly Internet phone bill during 1994-2002 got bumped by 33% in 2003-4 -- not due to increased usage on our part, but due to phone bill taxes.

And there it stayed, around $35 a month, until 2005 -- when something strange began to happen with Trk Telecom reports of our Internet usage. And, our Internet bill began to climb steeply -- in clear disagreement with my own cost calculations (based on my hitherto impeccably reliable dial-up service computer logs).

Twice we contacted Trk Telecom to check our Internet line for inadvertent overcharging. Twice they checked and found 'nothing'.

And then in July 2005 the lid blew off the pot... internet spades received a dial-up service phone bill for a whopping $150+.

That was absolutely impossible...

So, after we (grudgingly) paid the $150 bill, we lodged a complaint, and requested an investigation...

Refusal to pay a disputed phone [or electric] bill is not really an option in Turkey. If you don't pay find broadband internet bill on time, they just disconnect the service -- unceremoniously and without warning. They also charge interest on your unpaid balance until you do pay -- and, of course, you have to pay extra to have the service reconnected.

And we waited to hear the result of anonymous internet surfing investigation.

It never came. The following month, as mentioned, Trk Telecom delivered the ADSL service -- and our complaint (and the details of their investigation) got lost in the shuffle.

But that's not quite the end of the story...

New iPhones approved in capacities from 4GB up to 32GB?

4GB to 32GB -- that's one hell of compare internet range, but we're hearing from a trusted source that new iPhones in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB capacities just garnered approval by celcom broadband plus streamyx PCS Type Review Certification Board, the standards body responsible for certificating handsets for use with some carriers (AT&T, for instance). If true, cheapest broadband isp would lend credence to the belief that Apple will be introducing at least two new models this summer -- ostensibly streamyx account password WWDC, until we're told otherwise -- because it seems unlikely that the company would be looking to wrap high-end hardware around ridiculously light storage or vice versa. If this means AT&T's going to be able to sell sub-$100 iPhones, it reinforces a precedent set by devices like the E71x that consumers can (and broadband isp dsl expect hot smartphone hardware for shockingly little cash. We'll drink to that.

Most people all across the hotel seri malaysia genting highland consider themselves to be blessed to live in the computer age. According to them, life has best internet service provider become almost effortless due to the various application of a computer and especially the advent and development of various internet services.

Whether it is a question of communicating with one another via chatting, e mail or the various social networking web sites or it is a matter of accessing any particular piece of information on any site or blog, internet has definitely proved to be of great significance in the modern lifestyle. However, a user must always keep in mind the fact that despite all the positive points about the internet, it also has its own share of drawbacks.

One of the major disadvantages about the internet and its use is the comparatively lack of an authoritative control over the flow of data and information over the internet. In other words, as a result of free access activate streamyx account often it may occur that there is an unrestricted stream of information flowing both ways between the user and the web which may often have various consequences including the fact that all the records of every site, page or blog visited on the net will be stored on the hard disk of the computer. This section of the system is called the internet history and all the information about a user's web activities is stored in form of temporary internet files, cookies, etc in these system folders. As a result, the privacy aspect of the whole thing literally goes down the drain and any other person logging in afterwards can get a clear idea about the web hosting mail web pursuits.

To be more detailed, it should be stated that the operating system along with its various applications like the web browser, etc always keep records of the internet history categorized according to days and dates. Moreover, this history does not only include the information about the pages and sites visited by the user on the internet but also the computer configuration, credit card numbers, passwords and other such private information which are of extreme significance. Hence, it actually compromises the user's privacy quite seriously in the sense if on the home computer, the kids or the other family members can have access to the information about compare mobile broadband or her online activities which if not anything else can at least become vulnerable to data loss, etc.

Moreover, if the same thing happens on the office computer, this compromise of privacy can have even more serious consequences. For instance, if the employer finds out that an individual has been eating up the working hours by browsing the internet for any other purpose apart from the absolutely official and relevant ones, it can be a real bad stain on his or her career. Thus, the importance of clearing up the internet history from the browser, system folders as well as the applications especially with an internet history eraser can easily be recognized by a user.

Becoming UK Non-Resident for Capital Gains Tax ('CGT') Purposes

Many people looking to move overseas for tax purposes are concerned with avoiding Capital Gains Tax. In my experience these fall into two broad categories:

Firstly, individuals that own a number Streamyx UK investment properties and are looking to sell up. The massive increase in land/property values in the UK results in potentially huge Streamyx gains and this makes the offshore opportunities look very appealing.

Secondly, there are those individuals that own UK shares (often in their own companies) and are looking to sell. This group aren't as large as the above group (as the UK tax reliefs on shares in trading companies are pretty significant anyway) but they form a large minority.

The CGT advantages

The 'holy grail' for these individuals streamyx network to avoid paying CGT completely. This is why becoming non UK resident is so appealing ?as it can provide for a complete UK CGT exemption. Property owners in particular could be saving anything from 24% - 40% in tax, and on a gain of 1,000,000 this equates to a substantial sum.

How do you achieve it?

In order to qualify for the CGT advantages you need to ensure that you're non UK resident and non UK ordinarily resident for the tax year of disposal.

Note that it's not just a case of abandoning UK residence ?you'll also need to lose your UK ordinary residence status. For many emigrants the best way to achieve this is to leave the UK permanently. Permanent in this context though doesn't mean forever, just a period of at least three years.

Providing you can get this confirmed with the Revenue streamyx announcement by purchasing a property overseas, selling or long leasing UK property, having close family overseas and limiting UK visits) you should be able to satisfy this. The number of UK visits will be very important and you should keep these to an absolute minimum, particularly in the three years after streamyx modem the UK. In addition ensure you complete the form P85 on your departure and complete any tax return on the basis on non UK residence.

You'll need to watch the timings as most people will need to ensure that they only sell during a tax year of complete non residence and ordinary residence. In other words if you left the UK before 5 April 2008, you would need to ensure that any disposal was after 6 April 2008 to take advantage of the CGT exemption.

When can you return to the UK

If you are selling assets that you owned when you left the UK you'd need to ensure that you were non resident for a period of at least five complete tax years. If you don't the gain will be charged to UK CGT in the tax year that you return here.

It's therefore important for you to keep a track on the years you've been absent as a non resident to avoid the tax charge on your return. As a non resident you also wouldn't usually need to disclose the gain on any UK tax return Streamyx it becomes chargeable.

What about overseas tax?

You need to avoid the 'jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire' scenario. There are lots of 'low or no CGT' countries and if you're looking to avoid both UK and overseas CGT you'll need to ensure that you obtain residence in such a country. Good examples here are Cyprus, Malta, Andorra, Monaco, Gibraltar, Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. These countries are examined in detail in my other articles to be found here and at www.offshoretax.co.uk and www.wealthprotectionreport.co.uk
